This article from the Harvard Business Review by Dorie Clark, Social Media Is Making You a Smarter Leader, lands 3 key ideas where I've really tried to focus in my own experimentation with social media and in my own start-up business.
- Really solving a problem. Dorie talks about 'selling better', but for me, that comes from owning the customer's problem, investing, and showing your passion for solving it.
- Listening. I run into it over and over. While there are so many wonderful, talented freelancers and agencies out there, clients are turned off when they don't listen and engage with real enthusiasm.
- Taking action (or at least recommending a path to it) when waiting doesn't seem like it will yield a better result.
